This is not a really big deal other than it as Peter Griffin on Family Guy says, it grinds my gears.. I went to my local Wendy's for something for a fast lunch. As I sat outside the window I spot a sign that says "If your order contains tomato you will have to request them due to the shortage of tomato's" or wording very similar. It would seem to me, if they are trying to save some money NOT putting some tomato on a sandwich but will if asked, we the public should see a reduction of the cost of the product. I have no idea of how the Main muslim is going to get around a COLA increase to Social Security people this time..probably like the last time claiming there is NO INFLATION of prices. The chit never ends.

You flat-out can't get tomatos at the BK in Deming, NM. Huge signs on the entry doors stating that shortages are to blame.

I saw the same sign at the drive thru at Arby's today. It said that tomatoes were in short supply due to a bad crop and they were only putting them on by request. I don't care for them that much so it didn't bother me.

I'd pay extra if they'd leave them off forever!

I guess some folks are easily riled. The reason they do that is so those of us who do want tomatoes can get them during times of shortages. Don't worry, I'm sure they will go back to putting them on as usual once supply has caught up with demand and you can just throw them in the trash if you don't want them.

It's not like Wendy's owes you anything so if you don't like what the business is selling then don't buy...simple as that.

Here's one that blistered my ass yesterday. My son wanted to go to IHOP for pancake so I took him. The food came, no surprises no problem. The waiter brings the check and I give him my debit card he goes out and rings it up and brings it back with the slip for me to sign which normally has the price of the meal and then a line labled tip and then a line labled total. But now they have changed it so it reads as follows:
Total______ Tip_______ Captains Tip _______
Total ______________
Now I don't know who the hell the "Captain" is and of course I read things before I sign them but I can see many a senior citizen putting the total on the captains tip line without noticing the change from normal. I won't give these shady operators my business again.

That is odd. Never heard of a Captains Tip, and I can see your point about senior citizens, or just someone that wasn't paying close attention.
I wouldn't fault Wendy's in this case myself, although I can understand chagrin over it. They really don't have much of a choice over shortages.

Sounds like Brother Bart has the right idea; he's planting tomatoes.

By the time he has tomatoes, this shortage will probably be over. But, he will have garden fresh tomatoes and they can't be beat. Yummy.

The point is not about a shortage of tomatoes.....it's about being charged full price for an incomplete product. If you have no tomatoes then cut the price accordingly.
It would be like buying a rifle and having to "request" that it included a trigger!

No, if you want the tomatoes you can have them. They aren't charging extra for them. For that matter, they never charged less if you said you didn't want them in the first place, did they?

With crop damage in both Florida and Mexico, those red ripe tomatoes are in short supply.
