I haven't had any success with Russian built sporting rifles, so I would never buy a Winchester Wildcat.

If I was going out to buy a new 22 bolt gun, it would probably be the Savage Mark II BV if I was going with a heavy barrel or the Marlin 980S if I was going with a light barrel.

Just got a standard one yesterday, 2 stage trigger is nice. I understand the Varmint trigger is adjustable. Plastic in the trigger /mag group is a little cheesy, but the barrel is free floated and the muzzle counterbored. Haven't shot it , so it's not clear how that part will be.
I do have a nice Savage in 17HMR with the Accutrigger for about the same money, but it's a pig to tote. The WW runs around 5# with scope.

I bought one a couple years ago, was surprised as the accuracy was quite good. I turned it over to the grandsons and they seem to like it, or at least I haven't seen it since.

I wanted an opinion on that rifle as it was inexpensive and didn't look too bad so I tried the novel idea of buying one and trying it myself. Worked well enough that more people should try it.

I have one, shoots great. Nice wood, fit and finish is fine, trigger is decent, magazine release is a bit odd. Likes Federal AE22 Black/Red box 38gr best so far. Shoots just about as well as my Zastava and Rem 5. Definetely a durable rifle well made rifle. For $200 with three magazines, tough to beat in that price range.

I think that I have over 50 rimfire rifles, so I don't need a low-grade Russian rifle to contaminate the herd. Hard to beat a Marlin or Savage for a sub-$300 rimfire bolt gun, particularly so if you live in a humid climate and want stainless.

Heck, I don't think that I'd buy a Russian built sporting rifle even if they burned Lenin's bones to case color the receiver!

Just about right for the price of $200.00 I paid for the rifle. I got the one with sights. Moderately good sights and wooden stock. Action is tight but with use should get smooth. Trigger guard, magazine well and magazine are plastic.I got 4 magazines with mine -rather cheap looking plastic but it latched, cycled and functioned flawlessly.Trigger was about 4-5 lbs. Mine was very accurate with iron sights. Very light weight and slim profile.
Not a display queen but good as an everyday tool.

I bought one a while ago because I had heard that shot fantastic. The gun looks a bit cheesy but I really believed that it was a shooter. But I looked at how many 22s I had and sold it.

Maybe a few short of 260Rem but quite a few

I bought a lot of 5 of them several years back and gave a few as thank you presents. I kept 2, one of which I shoot a lot. I really like it. I think it is worth more than the sub $200 purchase price.

You think, maybe, that it would turn out red?
