Another vote for Meopta.
Kaps would also be an interesting addition.
I'm becoming more tolerant of intolerant people.

Good suggestion Lee.
Meopta maybe Doug? We have spoken with Meopta on a few occasions. We are open to their line and perhaps next year it can become something we bring in

Why would anyone want to buy a Leupold anyway. Show me another binoc under $70 that is as small, comfortable, light, and has the image quality of the Yosemite. New. You;'d be hard pressed to do so. Doug would likely sell truckloads of these in conjunction with other orders. "i'll take the leica closeout you listed, one of those minox's, and toss in a Yo for a gift while your at it". Leupy's loss, as I am sure CL isnt hurting and they certainly have my buis past, present and future. You have to catch the Yos on sale (and a good one) for sub-$70. Normally, right at $100ish. For that range, and considering it's VERY likely the same glass and prisms, just get Doug to toss in the Vortex Raptor 6.5x32s: http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/vortex.pl?page=vortexraptor6x32Or, if you'd prefer roofs, jump all the way up to $170 and get the 6.5x32 Fury: http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/vortex.pl?page=vortexfury6x32

I hear what you are saying, but the bottom line is that there really isnt a competitor to the yosemtite's when you factor in both quality AND typical street price. I am NOT pumping leupy gear AT ALL, just saying that those particular little buggers occupy their niche nearly perfectly.
Quit giving in inch by inch then looking back to lament the mile behind ya and wonder how to preserve those few feet left in front of ya. They'll never stop until they're stopped. That's a fact.

... and I think they should have left the low end market to the low end manufacturers. Their focus with the low end stuff is giving them a bad name IMHO. Unfortunately abandoning the "low end of the market" to an entrant is the typical response of an established market leader, which invariably leads to disaster for the lead brand. See IBM's management of their PC invention. A better strategy is a new autonomous business unit to compete at the low end, with lower expectations from the parent for immediate high returns. This may be Leupold's strategy with the acquisition of Redfield. What I don't see, however, is segregation between the 'low end' Redfield line and a focus on competing successfully with the Euro scope makers on quality, with Leupold's high-end products. This calls for a new business model for Leupold, not the one gr8fuldoug discovered in his post when dealing with Leupold. This means Leupold management doesn't get it and bad times are probably closer than they expect. Although this would significantly decrease total Leupold-branded sales, because only a comparatively small number of customers are really willing to pay high prices even for high quality, it might save the company. This strategy requires willingness to cannibalize the parent brand and the leadership will to re-invest in the down-market unit, until quality is eventually perfected, and the 'up-market' climb to profitability repeats itself. You can count on the fingers of one hand the number of successes in combating disruptive innovation. It's the price of progress though, in a free market.

Catch Doug when he has a "demo" sale of Raptors; same ballpark, likely same glass.

How about Canon? I have always wanted a set of their higher end image stabilizing binos.
