Local store has a NIB 450/400 on sale for $650. That's a pretty good price is it not?

Seriously, there is one NIB listed on Gunbroker.com at $900. So it seems to me that $650 is quite reasonable.

Yeah that's below dealer cost, considerably.

It's a cool rifle at a great price, but am not sure if I were to use it as a dangerous game rifle, as the cartridge most definitely is, if it would be a very good choice. Would hate to put myself, guide, and others at risk if I were to woof the first shot.

Well, I went ahead and bought it tonight. Beautiful rifle and very well put together. I can honestly say I'm very happy with it. They had a twin to it in 375 H&H for the same price, but I already have one of them in a Model 70. I also bought a box of shells and got sticker shock,$88. Looks like I'll be doing some reloading.

Nice job! If you decide you don't want it any more, I'll give you $750 for it and the ammo you bought...you'll make a quick $12 profit that way... . Seriously -- very good thinking -- even if you want to go another direction, you will make a very nice profit and have fun in the process. Dennis

Something a little different in the scope ring department too with this rifle. It came with a set of Warne quick detatch rings instead of the regular Ruger rings. Never seen that before.

Is it a Craig Boddington model with the Warne rings? You should be able to tell by a CB in the serial number.

orion03 - "sticker shock" over the cost of factory ammo is something I've also experienced on these older nostalgic calibers. Had a yen for the .404 Jeff recently until the ongoing expense of brass and factory, not to mention the CZ rifle, put those plans on the back-burner. And I reload... Well, if you have to ask the price then it's not affordable...woe is me. Homesteader.
