I am thinking about buying a Remington Model 7 with a 20" mountain rifle barrel in a McMillan stock.
I want to scope this rifle and keep it light.
What bases and rings would you recommend to make the mounting system rock solid?
Thanks in advance.

Weaver mounts are more than good enough for a remington. http://www.weaveroptics.com/
All guns should be locked up when not in use!

For a lightweight rig?
Try to keep up.. There are much better choices out there.
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

If it's a 4 screw, the Talley LWs are your best bet by a wide margin.
If you're not burning through batteries in your headlamp,...you're doing it wrong.

Even if its not a 4 screw, it can be turned into one cheaply and quickly. Just had one done for $20. The Talleys are worth the effort.

I'll give another vote for the Talley LWs.
