Anyone running the 105gr A-Max in a standard 243 Winchester? If so, what's your experience been like and what loads have worked for you?
The rifle I'll be loading for is a Model 70 classic compact, 20" factory barrel.

Dang, Midway has the A-Maxes on sale this month... Oh well, I wasn't set on that bullet anyway. I can live with something in the 70-90gr range for a 243. Given that this rifle will have its factory barrel only until I get tired of it, which should only take the summer

I shoot them in a Rem 700 (9 & 1/8 twist) and they are still stabilized at 500 meters and are very accurate. Since you didn't specify what firearm you are using I hope this helps.
drover
223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.

drover I did specify; Winchester Model 70 Compact. Doesn't look like they'll work in that gun, but I can live with that.

For a slower twist, I'd give the 87 gr v-max a try.

My 1 in 9.25 Savage loves them. N160 powder and 3100 fps. I use them for long range prairie dogs.
