I have had to keep my stevens collecting to rimfire 22 because of cost, and availability. A photo would be really appreciated if you buy one. In their day they were well thought of.

Trying to show a picture of my walnut hill in 22 hornet. My Dad collected them when I was a kid. I actually used this on groundhogs in KY. Somehow I managed not to scar it up.

The rear tang sight on that rifle is worth a bit I think. I'm no expert but some of the Marbles and Lymans are worth a good bit and that may be one of the better ones. Check it out closely if you ever decide to part with it.
SUG that's a great rifle to have inherited! One caveat tho: if you handload for it, keep to factory equivalent pressure or lower handloads.
The factory .22 Hornet is about as much as the Model 44 type action can handle; many were shot loose back in the day by hotrodding .22 Hornets or rechambering to .22 K-Hornet. Better to load DOWN a bit to .22 WRM level ballistics and keep the old girl shooting for ever.
