Anybody know where a fella might find some?

Natchez and Midway don't......and haven't for quite awhile.

Is this 25-20 Win or 25-20 Single Shot cases you are looking for?

I used to have about 150 25-20 SS cases that I used to make 25-3000 Lovell R2 cases. Unfortunately, I gave them away when I sold the rifle, a Model 70 22 Hornet that was rechambered.

I beleive 25-20 SS brass is (occasionally) through Huntingtons.

Under dad's reloading bench, but I think he'd get upset- smile

Checked Grafs, Midsouth, Powder Valley, AbleAmmo,

Found it showing at http://www.patsreloading.com , but I know nothing about the outfit, and not sure if they update their website enough to show it as out of stock. Same for http://www.blue-star-inc.com/catalog/nrbrass.htm

On the levergun forum, a lot of them said they were just resizing .32-20 brass because they couldn't find .25-20

You might try Buffalo Arms Co. in Ponderay, Idaho. They load for a lot of obsolete cartridges and might have some brass.

Thanks guys, will be ringing Huntingtons/Buffalo a little later.

DJS, curious circumstance that I found .25-20 SS brass at Midway...but the Winchester version is scarce as balls on a doe.

I believe 25-20 Win. is one of several cartridges that Olin only loads and offers once a year, since it (and the others) are all listed as "seasonal" from most wholesale sources?

I have most of a box of old WW 25-20 once fired cases, but figure I might stumble onto one in a M92 someday? Know a feller that has one, but so far he has resisted my efforts at prying it loose.

My suggestion is to check with some older, smaller gunshops in out of the way places. I wandered into one last fall by mistake and found 300 .25-20 cases on the shelf. Owner told me he'd had them for years. Got them for about $.05 each.

And no, they aren't for sale, since my little .25-20 Martini Cadet loves them too much to permit me to send them away.

AtoZ shows .25-20 at $22/50 and Starline shows .32-20 at $101/500. The .32-20 can be formed into .25-20 with a sizing die.

25-20 WINCHESTER WCF 86GR SP
$42.95
25-20 WINCHESTER WCF 86GR SP. Correct headstamp. Box of 50. Not for the Marlin or single shot rifles. Backorder update: The latest we have heard is the brass should be rolling out to us sometime in June...almost here folks! Backorders ok!

Thanks, but looking for brass, not loaded ammo. There is a method to my madness...

Can't find A to Z, do you have a link?

That's good to know! Starline recommends using .32-20 to neck down ..... MidwayUSA indicates they're supposed to get some Winchester .25-20 brass sometime next month .....

.218 Bee is also made from the same parent case, and can't be found anywhere either, unless one is willing to pay more than $1/round - and even then its VERY scarce. crazy

I wonder if Winchester actually makes their .25-20 and Bee brass every couple or three years? Same with other odd flavors like .307, .356W, .358W, .348W and even .30-40K?

Just went over to MidwayUSA.com to check on brass status.

Starline .32-20 WCF is supposed to be available 4/13/11 this week, unless that delivery date gets pushed back which seems to happen frequently at Midway.

.32-20 WCF can be necked down to make .25-20 WCF, and also .218 Bee, two cartridges I'm vested in.

Winchester .218 brass isn't supposed to be available until mid-June, and Winchester .25-20 brass wasn't listed (at all, at present) on Midway's site.

Thinking about getting 500rds of .32-20 starline (to make the .218 and .25-20) and saying to heck with any Tinnchester crap. smirk

Also ..... several shooters it seems make 7.62X38R Nagant from .32-20 brass, FWIW. Apparently Starline .32-20 brass is tough enough, altho a tad short. shocked

Stubble.

In your experience, do the 32-20 cases require trimming when necked down into 25-20s?

Jim, Gonna have to plead ignorant and say 'I don't know yet' as I'm still getting started with the three rounds (.32-20 for a brass source, and H&R or Thompson/Center barrels in the other two).

I have a .218 Bee barrel for a Handi-rifle, and am still deciding what my Contender barrel (in .25-20) will look like.

If I had to speculate I assume trimming reformed brass would be a good extra step, esp since cases made from Starline will still be on the thinnish-side.

I can tell you that the 3-Way Cutter that RCBS offers for their case trimmer is a good item, as it does a very good job chamfering, deburring, and trimming length ALL AT THE SAME TIME!

When making .218 or .25-20 cases from .32-20, I'm anxious to see if the new cases will be long enough to meet SAAMI spec.

Maybe someone else will chime in. wink

balls on a doe?

you haven't hunted deer in San Francisco's Bay Area evidently... grin

Dan,

the old Western Scrounger use to be located out this way in Montague, Siskiyou County California.. they use to specialize in hard to find components such as that..

googled them on line, and evidently they relocated to WVa.. or else the name was bought out and someone moved it there..

Google them up and give them a holler!
