Can't say I'm surprised; actually thought it would have happened sooner. I'm not sure what they're going to be able to offer above what's already out there in 1911's. Hope they don't engrave the owner's manual on the left side of the slide. Here's the link: Ruger's new 1911

I can dig it. I like the lack of front cocking serrations, and, so far as the "manual engraving" goes, that hasn't been an issue on Ruger revolvers for at least three years so I don't expect their 1911 to be any different. Depending on the price, I'll be buying one.

That's where Ruger's main investment casting facility is; Pine Tree Castings.

Wonder if the Bisley frame will interchange. Maybe they'll manufacture a brass frame you can buy aftermarket.
I gotta admit being ho-hum about this offering. If it had as many features as a Taurus, cost the same, but was made here, then I'd be ready to roll on one. As it is, the Remington still looks pretty sweet for my next 1911. Of course I said Remington last time then went with a Colt. What can you do?

is that where they're located now? Welcome to 1985. If you got outside your parents' basement more, this wouldn't be such a revelation.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum. I do tend to fit in well wherever I go in person. The campfire is the most outside exposure I get. No TV, no newspaper.

I have nothing against Ruger, but I'll stick with my Colts and my Springfields.

I may be mistaken, but IIRC, Ruger didn't move operations to Arizona in 1985. 1985 was the date they began operations in the new plant they built there in order to make the P-85, Ruger's all-new (then) 9mm wondernine. I don't know if there was even a plan at the time, to move their base of operations there. It seems a lot harder nowadays, than it used to be, to keep up with who makes what where. YMMV.

First you say Ruger didn't move a plant in 1985 and then you say they did to make a 9mm. Kinda contradictory
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

From the link: It looks comparable to the Remington 1911 R1 Enhanced which has an MSRP of $940. I expect the Ruger 1911 to retail for about the same. Oh, it looks like a 1911? It also looks like a Ed Brown or Wilson. What a dumbazz statement.

I believe Pine Tree Casting makes frames for Caspian, and If they're now making a 1911, then I'm betting their non-compete clause with Caspian just ran out.

I wish the same with FA would expire ... I do believe a SBH Bisley 5 shot in 480 Ruger or 454 Casull would be dandy.

For the record, Pine Tree Castings is in Newport, NH. It's where Ruger made all their ferrous castings, with other alloys (Alum pistol frames) made in Az.
Since this 1911 is all stainless, I wonder if they're casting them in Az now.

the ruger facility is out near the airport in prescott located in a building formerlly owned by U.S. motors making electricl engines a long time ago. Their handguns are done there, but i believe the rifles in ct. I also think that they were making golf clubs there in prescott too. I think one of the prime reasons for them being in prescott was that the building had sat vacant for quite a while before they moved in, and bill ruger's friendship with Joe DeSaye(J&G sales) and dave Wolfe(handloader/rifle) and neal knox who was around at the time. course another part of it good be prescott is pretty darn gun friendly and has always been so. being born and raised in prescott i like that billboard that says prescott arizona on the pistols. same as i like croatia on the springfield xd's. First thing i did after getting a springfield was email a picture of it to a cousin in zagreb stating i was helping international relations by buying the pistol. One of the good things of working at the ruger plant by the way, is employee discounts on the guns.
