Cal 30-30, 20" medium wt. barrel with barrel band. No checkering. Ser no is 361,000s. I would call it a 99H but it has a steel shotgun type bplate with SVG logo on the bottom. Not the carbine type bplate. Is this a 99H or some other model? Thank you all for the help.

I think all of the fruitwoods were the pre-barrel band 99H's. And the buttplate is one thing that Murray's is wrong on, most of the barrel band 99H's have shotgun style buttplates rather than carbine style.

This is what I thought was the carbine butt vs the shot gun butt on the 99H's. The bottom one (shot gun butt) was only available in 1938 and 1939 while the carbine butt was the standard from 1923 - 1937 Blair

Beautiful collection. I'm still learning, but this one of mine is from 1931. Rick has some great data on the 99H's, wish I could find his old post on it. I was thinking the carbine buttplates showed up for a few years in the middle of the barrel band run, but early and later ones were shotgun style. Edit: Couple of notes I have from Rick on shotgun buttplates and barrel bands: 1) Not everything you read in Murray is correct. This is why I did the disply on the 99-H. There are three styles with at lease eight variations. The first barrel bands up to around 340xxx had shotgun plates. 2) Yes, 1931. The style was changed that year to add the band and the pads. THe second picture in Murrary is from the 1931 catalog and I think it was an early Savage drawing of what they thiought they would be producing. I have not found one like pictured and I do not think they were produced.

Rory,
The DOM from top to bottom 1934, 1935, 1938, 1939.
That is the first butt plate in your picture that I have ever seen on a 99H. Always learning!

I'l like to find a nice 30-30H Barrel Band... have one with out, and have a 303 with but always thought the 30-30 was the most apt round for the BB for some reason.

.30/30 is pretty apt for about any thing!

All of them in my pictures are 30-30. What I would love to find is a 300 sav, they only made them for one year.

That's a very nice barrel band. As you can tell, that model is one of the more confusing because the printed material is wrong on the buttplate style and the pads on the buttstock above the lever. I was amazed when I got mine at how light and easy to handle it was.

I have a recently acquired 300 Savage BB. Only made in 1940.
Well used honest gun, but all original with no extra holes.
They are a nice little woods rifle.

Ive got a 300 BB too, probably my favorite 99 in the safe. Shot it once, a few years ago, badass little rifle. it hasn't seen much daylight since. A rare gun to say the least.
