I just finished "The Lost City of Z" about British explorer Percy Fawcett and his search for El Dorado (Z to him) in the Amazon jungle. Fawcett was known for traveling light with small groups using backpacks and a few draft animals, for as long as they would last in the jungle. He disappeared in 1925 while searching for the lost city of gold accompanied by his son and his son's friend. A picture in the book shows the son holding a rifle that appears to be a 1920 Savage which would have appealed to someone looking for the lightest rifle possible at the time. Does anyone know if this expedition outfitted with Savage rifles?
