WRONG! For a big chunk of our early history, we had no border security, and didn't care much who crossed it, so long as they weren't an armed force of another nation. That only changed with the advent of socialist government programs which made crossing in massive numbers a problem (earlier, there was no powerful incentive to transplant oneself to America). Ron Paul's position is that we shouldn't return to the old way of doing things at the border so long as one socialist government program remains in place. Until then, he says, the borders need defending from illegal crossing, and he'd do a ten times better job of it than either the establishment Republicans or the Democrats, both of which actually want to merge us into a one world government without national borders. Ron Paul is an avowed and outspoken opponent of such a merger.

And he's also a nut-case..

Regardless of your other thoughts on Ron Paul, he has never been for open borders, if by that you mean some sort of "One World Government". He is also opposed to the current situation with Mexico whether it is related to the "One World" thing or not.

Also, Paul DID NOT split the ticket in 2008. He said he was a Republican and would run as such. I don't know whether he has said the same thing this time, but the ticket-splitting thing could be said of any 3rd Party candidate.

Whatever Ron Paul is, he is an enormous improvement over Imam Hussein.

Ron Paul is a nationalist NOT an internationalist.

If anyone finds Paul a kook they are either an internationalist which is what most Republicans and Democrats are or ignorant.

I'm neither a kook, ignorant, internationalist, or a nationalist. If we must have a nation I'd much rather have a nationalist in the White House than a internationalist who will sell the nation down the tube for a seat on the "new" world government.
