I am looking for a new scope for my 7mm Rem Mag. I am thinking about either a Viper PST 4-16x50 or a 4.5-14x44 Zeiss. For those that have seen or used both what do you think? With the closeout deals on Zeiss through Doug they are the same price. Or maybe wait until the Viper HS comes out this summer for less money? What do you think?

Tough choice! I would be very happy with either.

I have two 4.5-14x50 Conquests, and two 4.5-14x44 Conquests, and I have looked through the Vortex. I would choose the Zeiss again. It has proven itself to me, whereas the Vortex is still relatively new.

Conquest is still a Zeiss product even if much cheaper than the completely German made ones. So my choice is Zeiss.

Pondered this not too long ago and ended up with a Zeiss target model.

Own both. Conquests are now my favorite scope. Vortex is a good buy for the money, however, the Zeiss are better. Doug has the best deals going with the demo units.

I have recently owned and compared the 4-16PST and 4-14x50 Conquest.

After waiting a year for the PST to arrive, I was sorely disappointed in the glass overall. Sold it after the first range session.
The features are great though. Very nice turrets that tracked well, FFP ranging/holding reticle and illumination if needed.
I wanted to love that damn scope but I could not.

The Conquest wins hands down in the glass department.

There have been others who have voiced the same opinion on the overall glass quality.
It may not be the actual glass but the design and execution of the 4-16.

I hear the 6-24 PST has a fantastic view (overall consensus) and will buy one to check out when they become readily available.
