Hey guys,

I have a McMillan 50 BMG action for a build, I have heard good things about the 50 BMG IMP and know that Pac-Nor barrels has done a few!

Have any of you been around one or know anything about the 50 BMG IMP......

THX,

Dave

never seen nor heard of the 50AI but betting it'd be a wicked Mo Fo!

I do know that the 750 Amax is a bad mother in a standard 50. used them in a Barret M82A1 and a single shot my father had for 1000 yard comps.

I can't spell... Deal with it...

Sounds like something made by Yamaha.

I could sure dig one. A Barret semi auto something is on my bucket list. Was thinking along the lines of 416 Chey Tac but a 50AI could work, too. Wonder what 'ol Parker O. Ackley would have really THOUGHT of that one..... smile

If I rebarrel my 50 I'm fairly sure it'll be to the necked down versions like the chey tac instead of simply and improved 50. nets more range and thats what one has a big gun for anyway, or at least what I bought it for. Fun playing hit the 55 gallon drum at a bit over a mile away as is. Amazing what AP ball can do accuracy wise.

I have a .50 McMillan I just pulled the barrel off to make a weirdo wildcat. 338-416 Barret Improved. I have all the parts and the reamer, but cannot get motivated to screw it together. I am hoping that 370 gr. 375 rocky mountain bullets will hold together at 3500fps. 50grs more powder capacity than the cheytac improved case, should belch fire.

I read that you can get 3000 fps with the 750gr A-max with the 50 imp, I've seen pictures of the 50 bmg imp case, they are bad ass!

I've talked to Chris at Pac-nor and he has cambered a few!

I don't know what the custom die price would be, but that alone might scare me off right there...lol

Ramhunter,
Looks like I was full of [bleep] on the price of press and dies, looks like you can get a Hornady press and custom dies for around $600. Have whom ever punches the tube, punch the dies improved and rock on. You do not have a hair on your one good nut if you do not do it. I guess I will just keep that action and do it for you.

If $7-$8 a shot does not scare you off, another dollars worth of powder is no big deal wink

Cardon and I are heading over your way soon.

Dies are hardened, and chamber reamers aren't dimensioned the same as die reamers.
