What the title says...lol Aftermarket follower and spring.... Got it covered... Have them on the way from MGW What I was asking was; which spring? SA, LA, magnum w/bump? Which follower; SA, LA, full-length magnum, WSM..?? And MGW is just a Winchester-authorized repair center.. I'm betting you paid beau-coup bux for those parts when you could have called Winchester direct and paid about half.. The last couple times I called MGW for a certain part they were asking 8 TIMES the listed part's price.. I've removed them from my resources list and won't call them again, ever..

Nothing like trying the source FIRST! Jack First Distributors in Rapid City has always been my favorite go-to source otherwise. Especially after they ditched Kalifonsky.

Nothing like trying the source FIRST! Yep, that's why I call Winnie first, GPC second.. Jack First Distributors in Rapid City has always been my favorite go-to source otherwise. Especially after they ditched Kalifonsky. I use Jack First and they're pretty good. My only (and slight) beef is their shipping charges, IMHO, is a tad high.. But I've got a list of resources that reaches about 65 possibilities.. You never know who/where the right item might be..

Is there a reason for replacing the factory follower and spring?

Is there a reason for replacing the factory follower and spring? That depends.. For the most part the answer is, not really.. But I (and others) don't particularly like the plastic followers. The shells don't slide on them as easily as a steel follower. As to the spring - I replace only if the original cannot be adjusted to allow correct feeding or, in the case of some belted magnums, to allow for 4 down instead of the original 3..

Wow--didn't realize the vaunted Winnys had gone to plastic followers! All mine are XTRs, which have stainless.

Finally found stainless follower and spring at Midwestgun. Only changing the follower out cause I prefer the metal over the teflon...factory spring looks like it got pinched or ?? causing it to shift far forward of the stop in the floorplate which is hindering positive feeding. (rear of case drops below bolt face and wont engage)

Well, got them in today.. Follower is Identical to the teflon one already there..HOWEVER, the Spring..not nowhere near as much..its over half an inch longer with some kinda funky bend at the last "leaf"..can't even close the floorplate. Still needing a spring !!
