I like the military pattern M1907 leather loop sling. I like it becauseyou can use it as a support for shooting as well as a carry strap. I just ordered an M1907 reproduction from Les Tam.
From sometime in the 70's to the early to mid 80's every new Remington M700 BDL came with a 1" plain brown high quality leather sling-carry strap.Adj for length it was as simple as it gets for carry or wrap around use. Bought one the other day for a dollar, I buy them everytime I find them usually in 2nd hand leather goods box at gunshops for a reasonable price. While I buy and use guns to sometimes move on if they don't come up to epectation, I never sell the Remington 1" sling I used on it. Got about 10 of them now and still buy them. Magnum Man
I got a sling braided out of "horse hair" I picked up somewhere. Kind of like that one the best out of 20 or 30 others laying around. G
I have seen only one of those before and thought it was pretty neat. I seem to remember an article in Outdoor Life on how to make your own also.
I haven't tried the Montana sling yet but would like to get around to picking one up. My current favorite is a 1" leather sling I picked up at Dick's about 5 or 6 years ago. It is not adjustable "on the fly" but has a few punches that allow you to adjust the length with supplied Chicago screws.
I like a simple leather or synthetic adjustable carrying strap that I can remove quickly. Some are sold under the name of Mountain Sling. The leather ones with a sliding metal buckle is my favorite. I also have several Montana Slings that I like. I take them off when in a stand or when making the final approach to a game animal. I do not like the big heavy padded carrying straps because they swing around a lot and make the rifle even more unsteady when trying to take a quick offhand shot.
Murray A-1 quick set. I like the width and the ease of adjusting the length. Just like magnum man's Remington sling only wider and a little more robust.
I use Trader Keith Safari slings. They are very light and limp, yet don't stretch. The sling is canvas with neoprene strips woven into the upper half to prevent slip. The ends are leather and overall, its a pretty slick sling. If going into the woods, the whole thing is limp enough to roll up and goes in your pocket to avoid catching on anything.
It's not leather, but I like the Slogan Ultraflex Sling. It's thermoplastic rubber, it never slides off the shoulder, and it stretches so it tends to counter the effect of the weight of the rifle.

Yeah not sure I'd be using it if'n it was called the Texan or the Longhorn...unless of course I was carrying a 25/06 (which it seems like every Texan in the universe has one or three of)

I really like Brownell's Latigo sling, have two, for different sling swivel stud spacing. They've gotten pretty pricey, but they are excellent. I know Montana Sling is getting high marks as well, and I hear from friends who use them good things to.
