If I may humbly offer a bit of advice,
Ask the primary investigating agency if they have a victim/witness coordinator.
This person can provide information in regards to the case and provide assistance in regards to other services available that you may not even know about.
On another note, a professional investigator is not going to release findings until the case is close to, or nearing conclusion.
For example:
This may be delayed due to waiting on blood/urine samples coming back from a lab. These samples will often show a % of alcohol/drugs or other intoxicating substances found in the bodies of parties involved.
These things do not happen immediately. It is frustrating, I understand.
