Really it is. I mean it starts out so nice and simple. but with extra paint on the shelf you gotta change it up lets weld on a sling stud too just cuz and then mix it up then you get bored and discover you have extra paint and a boat.............. you seeing a pattern yet Oh yea, painting both sides of a 10' jon boat takes more paint than you might think. Now few months ago I start eyeballing this 17hmr. Its done nothing but kill stuff from day one out way past what a HMR should be killing schit. But being layed off at the time meant broke with extra time on my hands and extra spray paint......also a can of bondo and a cordless dremel tool thats gotten me in way to much trounble because its just cool So sanded it down, bondoed up the cheek piece to where it felt right. Made the grip thicker throughout, added a palm swell, as well as the finger grips and a thumb rest. Only killed a few things with it since, but Im really liking the changes. so far. I gotta stainless mkII 22/45 target thats looking kinda vulnerable

Really good job on everything. I like the yellow/black splater job and the second version of the shotgun.

Poohbah, I'm sure Tom264 will give you pointers on either a leopard pattern or a rainbow...

Oh no guys. That's all I need another gun related disease. Thanks for sharing. I should have known when it seems to be in the back of my mind these days. I've been thinking this stock needs a little webbing: If I remember right that's how this disease starts out isn't it.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Most, almost all, of my dead serious, big game rifles have painted finishes. The two with McMillian stocks have gel coat camo patterns. My two with MPI stocks have a medium to light grey painted finishes. Three of these have baked on flat black barrels and a couple have the receivers so finished. Two have their bolts so done. I've found that in bright sunlight, even if I couldn't make out the hunter off in the distance, his shiny barrel would give him away. Even my new, fancy walnut stocked 7-08 has a painted, flat, dark grey barrel finish. Apparently somebody else discovered what I did. I don't need my rifles giving me away. On shotguns, I use Cabela's old, no longer sold, bow paint. If I get tried of the camo pattern, I can remove it and do something else. Paint has a couple of other nice features. It often makes the surface more rust resistant, even around salt water, and it is quick to repair if scratched. E

So far the thing I like best about that shotgun now, is that I dunno if the krylon stops rust or just hides it nicely same difference to me as long as it goes bang and cycles in another shell. 870 express factory finish seems to attract rust, and with it being a truck box gun..........

I've got it so bad that I painted my SBE that was ALREADY factory camo'd. Didn't like the pattern and even after shooting it with clear matte was too shiny to suit me. I'm sure there's worse cases of the "paint it" disease, let's hear 'em. And post the pics.

Great job on the yellow 17 HMR Muddy B! I painted my Kimber's stock while it is away getting retubed. I'm hoping it looks as good put back together as it does now... I could totally see how it could get addictive. I've been giving my XCR the ol' hairy eyeball... only thing stopping me is those grippy pads, not sure what to do there...
