It seems all of the reviews of these Shaw barrels that I've read are true laugh

Well, here's the pic:

[Linked Image]

That's the second load that I made up to test. The first was shooting pretty well too - just a bit over 1" at 100 yards, but the necks of the cases were smoked incating that pressure was a bit too low to seal them. This second load did not have that issue, indicating adequate pressure. Not a hot load - 225 Grain Hornady spire points going 2600-2650 fps (need to chronograph).

Regardless, I am very happy with the results of my project. .825", three shot group from a rig that cost the princely sum of $350 not counting the scope... and if I'd of used my other Stevens that I got for $180, then this would only run $280!

I'n not counting the cost of the barrel vice, guages or barrel wrench as I can use those tools over. Right? smile

Those are the results I got from my Shaw 338-06 barrel as well.

Don't overlook the Sierra 215 gr Gamekings. They're tough as nails and gave fantastic accuracy in my rig.

Thanks - I'm expecting that it will do even better. The wind was pretty bad - but then, it usually is at this range...

Sierra 215's huh? I'll get some and give em a whirl! I've got Hornady 250's, Nosler 250's and some 185 TSX's too to play with.
