Hello all. I am looking for a Remington 700 Mountain Rifle chambered in 257 Roberts. Boy's birthday is coming up and I think this combo would work well for him. Thanks for any leads.

This is going to be tough to find. I saw one on GB a couple of months ago but he wanted around $900.00.

Very tough and expensive. The kimber that was here for $800 would have been a good buy if you want a 257 rbts. Good luck. I hope you find one.

They're out there, but I've only seen one in person.

Thanks guys for the ideas. I know it is going to be tough, but I gotta try.

Teeder- Ahhh man. That gives me hope, but it also makes me feel a tinge jealous. Thanks for the photo-- I think. smile (Looks like the kids in your profile photo enjoy that gun)

Why not buy a used 700 or 77 and just rebarrel to a mountain contour, Mcswirly, Ti........make it an AI....the possibilities are endless. Of course then there's the 25 WSSM you might pick up real cheap right now.

I was on the same quest a few years ago, but had no luck. I finally had a 700 Mountain Rifle 270 rebarreled to 257Roberts. I have been very happy with it since day one. Bevan King in BC made and installed the bbl.

Later had the MR stock swapped out to a TI take off. I now like it even more.

We hike some steep mtns and I think the lighter weight rifle will suit him better. I appreciate the info and concern guys. If anyone comes across something please let me know. This is a great site.

i know this is not a Mtn Rifle.... but i was just at Cabelas in Omaha (Lavista) Nebraska and they had a Rem. 700 CDL SS Fluted there in their library. The wood had a couple nicks in it, but otherwise dang good shape. Just a lead on something realllly close. I handled it and it felt great. I am a light weight rifle fan as well, and there wasnt too bad.
