It looks as if I will be heading to Kansas this year. I am going to have to really work on my bow skills...

It is a friends private farm, in Unit 11. It may be 3 of us going to hunt it this year. He said there are some big deer. I don't think I will get the premier spot, but I will have a good time and am looking forward to the challenge and opportunity. I don't have the gear I think I will need. And I will really need to find a way to practice from elevated position. I need to find out if I can practice in the State Forest 100 yards from my house. I suspect not, and will have to find a spot somewhere.

Unit 11 (east/south east part of the state) is pretty good hunting. Parts of it can be pretty rugged. Lot of hardwoods,,lot of timber! You are buttin right up to the Ozarks on the Mo. side. If I remember right, muzzle loader opens the same day that archery does, so ya have to wear orange. You should have no problem filling your tag. Its early enough in the year you could have some "tick" problems in that part of the state. I'll be north east of you, up in unit 8. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I could use all I can get. I've been looking at 100 lb Texas deer for a long time...I'm hopeing I don't go crazy on the first thick young buck because of the size difference I'm not accustomed too...

best of luck to you too.
