I have reached the age where I have acquired many guns over a lifetime. Today I find I would rather have the money than so many guns.. I can't believe I just said that.
In any event,I am interested in seeing what you guys think is the best way to sell and maximize my income. I am strongly leaning toward a gun auction in a nearby city later this month. Another thing is so many gunshops that I traded with for years are no longer around. I am open to your suggestions.

I would list them here on the Campfire, there are plenty of gun nuts.

No chance of you moving back out to Arizona, huh?

Auctions seem to draw big money in these parts but then again, one would have to check with the auction house to see what their take is. My guess anywhere from 10% - 20% on up depending on their reputation. You can always list them here and do a face to face or work through a FFL. I always pulled the glass off of the rifles I've sold especially if it's quality stuff. Rifles with glass sell cheaper than the sum of the parts if sold separate.

What does the %age come to at GB and AA anyway?

Sell them here. If you're willing to sell in groups shoot me a PM of what you have. I may be interested.

Thanks,

It's not too bad. The final value fee is pretty reasonable and you can go cheap in your listing fees also if you want. I've sold some left handed shotguns and rifles that I had on consignment in my area for months. Things like that don't last long on gunbroker. One shotgun for instance only lasted 4 hours on there and someone was sending me money.

Put your higher dollar guns on Gunbroker With No Reserve and start them at 1 penny. You will get top dollar.

Or hold onto them until the end of this month... and I'll stop by and see what you have...lol

I'll be in Rochester the end of this month for a week, of course I have to work a few of those days...

I think setting a minimum on a brokerage site will let you see if there is a market. Probably the only way to get the most out of your wares, as IMHO many here probably want a good deal, ie not maximizing your $.....

Can't you also got to GunBroker and see what guns like yours have sold for?

I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.

Good advice. Gunbroker is the way to go, and if you start them low with no reserve you will get lots of bids and lots of ATTENTION and they will sell for what they are worth.

Doesn't GunBroker charge a fee,depending on the final sale price?

Yes...like this. It is well worth it.
____________________________________________________________

A Final Value Fee is assessed if your item is sold. The Final Value Fee is assessed when the listing closes and is based on the price that the item is sold for. If the item is not sold (reserve not met or no bids were placed) there is no Final Value Fee. For Dutch auctions the Final Value Fee is based on the cumulative sale price of all items sold out of the lot. You can use our Final Value Fee Calculator to find out the fees associated with your item.

Here is how you calculate your Final Value Fee:

1.Take the first $25 of your final value and multiply it by 5%. If your item sold for $25 or less this is your Final Value Fee.
2.If your final value was more than $25, take the additional amount between $25.01 and $1,000 and multiply it by 2.5%.
3.If your final value was more than $1,000, take the additional amount above $1000 and multiple it by 1.25%.
4.Add up these amounts and that is your Final Value Fee.
For example, a $1500 item would cost:

1.$25 times 5% = $1.25
2.$975 times 2.5% = $24.38
3.$500 times 1.25% = $6.25
4.Total = $31.88
A $500 item would cost:

1.$25 times 5% = $1.25
2.$475 times 2.5% = $11.88
3.Total = $13.13
