Ditto on this--in spades!

Hey buddy, watch it!!! wink
Thats ok, I'm sure bigger bucks have fallen to a shotgun more than any rifle.....I got quite a few pics to prove it....

Mn has an incredibally short season, right? Virginia is a great state for whitetails. Oct-Jan season. I'ne seen some pretty nice bucks killed all over the state.

I originally said Montana and I'll stick with it..........However if you factory in exotics, and don't mind searching/paying for access Texas has more big game opportunity than anybody else by far, not even close. OTC tags, landowner tags, or no tags needed for most everything except desert bighorn.

Admit it though, 270, don't you hunt WV or PA as well, so you can use a rifle? wink

Save your money. You have an entire life ahead of you to kill big critters.

Maybe you missed this.. And the experience you need, and get in your home state, will be used wherever you go when it's time to travel.

Many here would scoff at the notion of New York being a sportsman's destination.
Much like California, the entire state gets a bum rap due to the urban environments within the state.
Much like California, if you have the desire for an exceptional outdoor life in New York, you can make it happen.
A fellow I know proves it yearly with his relentless pursuit of coyotes....

The avid trout fisherman wouldn't really yearn much for those fabled Montana streams either as New York has some incredible trout fishing with absolute Hawgs landed yearly...

Upsate NY does indeed have some good whitetails, it produced this 200" + buck recentley.

Hmmm

A lot of mixed feelings now. Should I get a mulie, whitetail, or a blacktail?

Should I go open type enviousness or thick woods?

I was hoping to stick a little closer and drive to wherever I decided to hunt. I might stay in Cali and hunt the B zone which is near the Oregon/California border.

I would also need a season the runs past Oct 3rd as that is when I will turn 18 next year. (if I need to be 18 plus to hunt by myself)

If willing to settle for a blacktail would stay in state.

If not looking at easily $1000 plus in tags, gas, lodging

Spent a lot of time hunting ND, and Montana, when I was in college out there.. Great places, but the deer #'s are not even close to my native NY.
Want a great NY hunt... Mid October early muzzleloader. Buy a non resident license for only $140 over the counter. Then take a canoe to the town of Inlet on the Oswegatchie River. One can paddle for days without seeing a structure! Lots of deer and bear! No people! No draws, silly regs...just hunting, and spectacular Adirondack scenery!!! Next best = google West Point deer! Yes, rifle hunting for big bucks virtually in the shadows of New York City!

The hunting in Montana sucks!! I'd go elsewhere!!

I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.

I'll just reiterate that an antelope is the easiest big game animal for a first time hunter, and Wyoming would be my first choice on that.

If you want to stick with deer only, going out east is probably the best option. I'm not too familiar with the public land options east of Nebraska, so I'll let others get in on that.

But, as I've mentioned before, Nebraska's Pine Ridge has over the counter tags, a target rich environment, not too rugged country, and cheap tags. Plus you could have whitetails, muleys or both if you want.

I still have that issue around here.

Dicktop the only place you like to go hunting is San Francisco. You hunt for large penis to suck.
