tanner, thats a nice setup. in fact, id like to have the exact same thing, except make mine a 22" .243. an 8 lb all-up 7 mag would beat me up pretty good

The recoil isn't bad in an 8lb 7 Rem. I could spot hits easily enough with my last one from 500 and out.

Me too. I have a similar rig in 7SAUM. A ladder test or two wears me out. Even a 7mm Mag Sendero isn't pleasant to me for long strings. My Savage "sendero" I'm putting together will get a Fat Bastard on the end of the McGowen. I'm a recoil puss.

I like my 7mm rem. At 8.5 pounds (not a lightweight) all up it is a puzzy cat to shoot...

Same here.

I find somewhere around 17 ft/lbs. of recoil is my limit for what I consider "really good" shooting. Above that and I have to use a really heavy hold, which affects my shooting, and I don't shoot the gun as much, which affects my performance.

But if a guy can handle it, more power to him.

Lightweight for me, I didn't put in real effort to make ultra-light but just lighter.
Ti Alaskan II stock, Rem 700 7 MM rem mag, graphite black cerakote, Kampfield fluted bolt with campfire knob. Talley rings and bases (not lt wt) Vortex Viper LR 4x16x50.

Nice! What does she weigh Southwind? Pipe specs please. At a glance,I'd say that is exactly what I want to have built this winter in 7 Remmy mag.

Very nice rifle. That stock looks an awful lot like the Bansner on my classic win model 70 30-06..

I have a feeling yours might be a little more pimped out than this one...grin. I'll be looking for your results.

Interested to see how the 6x42 does on this rifle-I've never used one. I think it'll be plenty for 6-700....

Huntr,

I'll call dibs since my oldest son is a lefty. Then we can just load one bullet for both rifles!

It plenty for that range.

This guy I know left a Montana 243AI at my house with a 6x42 on top. I think the throat is shot and the M1 spins on its own now....

I've seen the barrel match the stock color.....

I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!
