Will be using the A-max 140 and the Nosler BT 120 grain. Will be used out of a Ruger Number 1. Powder and primer's I'll get locally at Gander Mountain. Anyway, would love to hear any loads that have worked well for folks. Thanks much in advance.

Buy the "single caliber" reloading book for the 6.5x55 from Midway or Ebay (cheap).
Hundred if not 1000s of tested loads and some bullet makers even list most accurate combos (in their experience)
Shoot your #1 with some factory ammo to establish a baseline and ensure it's not a "stringer".

Thanks for the link. Just bought it and we will see where it goes. My dealer stocks the Hornady factory ammo, so I'll buy a box of that tomorrow when I pick up the gun.

With the 140 I'd give R17 and H4350 a go. In my Swede I used H4350 and the 140 Sierra.

All we have needed is RL22 and IMR4350 with 129 Hornady's and Sierra 140 GK's.

Favorite 6.5x55 load, listed here many times before: 120 gr Nosler BT, Lapua cases, Federal GM210M match primers, 48.5 grs RL 19. About 2,950 fps. Very accurate. I've stopped looking for something better.

Good shooting!

H4350 with the 120's and R22 for the 140's. The real trick is working up to find the max load in your rifle since due to the cartridges history the published data is all over the board.

Both my 6.5x55 rifles have shot well the Nosler 125 grain Partition over RL19 (one grain below the max listed in the Nosler # 6 manual) using Remington cases and CCI #200 LRPs. This load is very accurate and is an excellent load for deer in my experience.

In my 6.5x55s I've had good luck with these combos.

48.5grs Rel-19 and 120gr Nosler Solid Base or Ballistic tip

47.5grs WXR/Rel-22 with a 129gr Hornady SP or SST

44grs IMR4064 with a 100gr Nosler Ballistic Tip

The same quantity of IMR 7828 works wonders as well.

vaturkey, sorry for the slow reply, motherboard crashed and have been offline for awhile.

CCI BR2 is my go to primer with the swede, cases are norma and rp, I have lapua, win, rp and norma cases I only use lapua in my bench/long range rifle in my tikka T3 lite stainless I use rp and norma the most, accuracy has been equal with all the cases. The lapua's outlast everything else by far.

I know it's not on your list, but my #1 liked RL19 and 130NAB's.

There is no accounting for taste.

Experience is a great thing as long as one survives it.

Generally, there ain't a lot that separates the two however,
Barely making it is a whole lot more satisfying than barely not making it.
