How do you keep them from getting stolen? Hide real good? Camo? Cable locks?
I have a camera that will be on a game trail, but I don't know how to prevent others from taking it. I do have a anti-theft metal box that I can lock, but I don't know how that stops them from stealing that too with the camera.
I'm open to ideas. Thanks.

I usually put my cheaper units where I know people will most likely see them and sometimes lock them up with a cable. I don't worry about them on gated private land.

I'll be on private land, but we get intentional visitors...the kind that poach and steal. They cross the fence line with intent...

I lock mine to the tree with a cable lock. I figure most times, a guy isn't carrying a set of lock cutters in the woods. Won't prevent them from coming back for it, but so far, that's worked for me. Rob

I'm open to ideas. Thanks. No matter what you do, you can't stop it. I have lost a Cuddyback No-Flash. It was in a bear safe steel box. 1/2" steel lags with hardened washers and a steel cable through the box around the tree and camera. The whole shootin match was gone. I have replaced it the same way and password protected the unit. I have posted signs that say "If you can read this, you've already been photographed" in various locations throughout my property. So far, so good. Been over a year now.

I have yet to have one stolen knock on wood and I hunt state land. Like others have said if they want it bad enough they will get it no matter what you do. So basically you are just keeping guys honest by using a cable.

I'm going to put on a cable lock off the beaten path, but on a game trail. I'm going to camo it up the best I can and see if I need to improve my methods. I also like the sign with a message to would be theifs that they can be identified.

Rig up an old satellite dish to the tree above the camera, paint the dish OD green and stencil USFWS live cam with a bogus number on there too. Then make a little fine print sign to hang by the camera explaining that images are transmitted live to USFWS so theft would be foolish, violators prosecuted etc, etc.
Something clever here.
