So... Is snow unusual in Namibia?
I don't know the climate there. Snow sure isn't something I normally associate with Africa, once away from the big mountains anyway.

Well, it is winter in Southern Africa now, but even so, I'm guessing they don't see much snow in Namibia.. I know large areas are desert or semi-desert (part is covered by the Kalahari and Namib deserts for instance..) while others areas are bushveld...I'm not sure much rain falls in certain areas, let alone snow..

It can get cold enough this time of year in Namibia, but there usually isn't much precipitation this time of year. Though evidently the Rehoboth area has gotten about three times the normal annual precip of 9.4 inches in the past year or so.

The country and light snow looks a lot like Southern New Mexico in the Winter. In fact, the last time I was on White Sands Missle Range, it snowed about like the above picture. And, I don't think the Tularosa Basin gets much, if any, more percipitation than Namibia.
I really need to go hunt Namibia soon!

I was in Nam' when this happened............it was the second cold front in 2 weeks! It was -7C on the Seeis river and it snowed in the Khomas Hochland as well.
It was -6C even in Outjo, where I was hunting mountain zebra!!
The ground is still wet from all the rain they have had (4 times the usual). The grass is high, and the wind was howling. Bloody lovely hunting conditons...........LOL.

I had a wind stopper sweater and a pile lined cotton parka and I was ok, but if you are planning to hunt in Namibia in the next month or so, take some heavy clothes and even Gore Tex lined boots.

Even I could track in that!

My first morning of hunting the highveld a couple of hours from Pretoria in late June, 2004 saw heavy frost, sleet and light snow. No ever believes it, even when I show them the pictures.
