Cabelas has a sale on Black Hills Gold 30-06 right now. 180 grain Accubonds are normally $34.99 and are on sale for $24.88. So having never shot them in my Ruger 77 MkII I bought three boxes just cause the price seemed very good compared to any other premium bullets I can find.
Hope it is accurate enough. If so I will use them on black bear, Mule deer, and Roosevelt Elk this year. As with any bullet some people love them and some don't. I just thought I would give them a try at that price. Anybody specifically shoot them out of a Ruger? How did I do?

The only centerfire Ruger I own (and will probaly every own) is a MKII 30-06 with the old boat paddle stock. One of the few loads it will shoot well is a 150 grain accubond and IMR4831. I have killed a couple deer and coyotes with that load and it worked fine. Mine is very picky about what it will shoot and did not like the 180's.

Yeah, bit of an unknown. I figure if they aren't great I can sell them or trade to others i know with a 30-06. I wanted heavier bullets casue I shoot a Model 70 .270 with 130 gamekings for lighter stuff.

The thing to remember, is that even if they don't shoot 1/2 MOA in your rifle, is that they will likely shoot well enough to put them all in the boiler room of whatever big game you're going to point them at. So, 1-2" will work fine, even if it might not be what we all might be striving for...I wouldn't worry about it one bit, as long as they don't scatter all over the target, and since it's Black Hills, that would be very unlikely....
