Couldn't pass it up.
'80s vintage, Interarms (via Manchester, England and Alexandria, VA) MkX mauser, sporter, in .25-06.
$300, out the door.
That joins the .30-06 and the 9.3x62.
Between those three on the same parent case, I reckon I can cover most all bets.

I've got a mini-Mauser 7.62x39, but yes, you're right... I need a mini-mauser in .223.

Good snag BTW.

Gotta love the .25-06. It kills way beyond what most would believe. Most deer go belly up right there. My 24" barrel shoots Hornady 100 grain bullets at 3350 fps. I really like the Interarms rifles, too bad they didn't make any left handed models.

Thinking that new Swift Scirocco II with the .430ish BC might have to get a look.

The 100gr E-tip is right up there in BC. I've only run them for one season but can't keep that bullet inside a whitetail. (3300+fps)
Now with even more aplomb

Nope. Need the 9.3 to balance the top-end, whilst staying with the '06 case for the heavy hunting rifles, and to balance the metric 7.62x39.
The Deuce, whilst sweet, comes not with the plethora of mil ammo as does the .223, and thus both light guns will eat the mil cartridges.
The .25-06, slinging Scirocco IIs at around 3300, sighted at 250, will be 1MOA low at 300, 2MOA low at 350, 3MOA low at 400, 4MOA low at 450, and roughly 5MOA low at 500...
Easy.

Rebarrel it to a Whelen.

Nope. The 9.3 outdoes the Whelen. Besides, if I want to do a Whelen, I'll do it on an 03A3.

Over the years, I've watched the "newest and latest" fads come and go. Some stayed and some faded out. The .25-06 is one that stayed. I currently own a custom .25-284 which is just a .25-06 that fits a short action. I ran a .240 Wby Mag for a few years as well. A 6/06 so to speak. They are alot more popular than I'd have ever thought. My long time hunting partner shoots one as do lots of other serious hunters I've known. One, for instance, always reaches for his when he hunts. Regardless of what it is. Not just deer, but New Zealand Tahr, Red Deer, or canadian moose, as well as black bear, and pronghorn. What seems to do it is that they shoot flat, they don't kick much and they kill quite well. Even the less than great bullets like the 120 gr. Remington Cor-Loks work very well. I've seen them work. Time and again. No complaints that I can see. Very good buy. E

Thanks, E. I thought it an excellent buy, a fantastic cartridge, and rounds out the large centerfire battery well.
A .223 will round out the small rifle battery, and basically, I'm pretty much done.
Well, except for shotguns... and blackpowder rifles...

Well I say, dump the '06 since you have the 9.2x62. .25-06 has 99% of North America covered with low recoil, flat trajectory. 9.3x62 has everything else covered. The .30-06 is just an in-between also ran in your collection.

The '06 was the build for my wedding present from my wife. It stays. And, the overlap of the .25-06, .30-06, and 9.3x62 gives me latitude on a two-gun battery for anything, anywhere, anytime... at least in North America.

Great buy, it should be very accurate if anything like the one I used to have. 100 gr TSX or the like with a bunch of powder will be good stuff. Congrats on the purchase. Any pics?
