kind of a toss up......either your gonna have to surgically remove the seat from my arse due to the pucker factor or its gonna be a literal "oh chit" moment......

actually you have a lot of thoughts go through your mind real fast figuring out what to do. had a belt come of my dart at the strip once, it got stuck in the throttle body of the carb as i cross the line going 118 mph. i turned the ignition off.

Truly hard imaging the balls it takes to pilot one of these monsters.

Racing my Chevy at the drags, during time trials, had a TF dragster in the other lane. He was 8 seconds late leaving the line and crossed over into my lane. Could see he still had his foot into it...because the butterflies were wide open. So, I scoot to the right line....then to the edge of the grass. Time/Speed traps are coming up, so I needed to decide if I go all the way into the grass or back into my lane. Knew if I went in to the grass, I would probably flat spin and more than likely roll the car. About a millisecond before I was heading to the grass, he checked up and drove back in his lane. Those 3 seconds seemed like an hour. I was driving by looking into the rearview mirror and the feel of the grass on my RF tire.

Why the heck would there be a Top Fuel dragster in the other lane during time trials with a door car? Your time trials and his qualifying don't coincide nor should your tree (sportsman vs. pro).

closest call I ever had was a SBC powered Fiat vs my B/Gas dragster.( also SBC )
He got a hole shot on me but instantly spun into the christmas tree and sent it flying into the side of my car.

I had light bulb glass on me , he cut his bare hand on his brake handle that was imbeded with glass

One assumes the driver had a polite discussion with his mechanics after this incident...

I'm with Digital on that one. That there is funny. Think a crew member's head might roll on that one.

It appears to me that the solid steering shaft had snapped. Not sure that is a crew problem unless they didn't magnaflux the shaft on schedule.
