This is about the size of a Winston SK, with cpm 154 stainless and sambar stag handles. File work on the spine of the knife as well. Very sharp and a really cool little knife IMO. Wish I could get better pics, will work on that in the future.

That's awesome. I like the design, and that filework is sharp.

Those are great scales on that knife. The rest of the knife is fine as well.

Fantastic scales on that knife. Looks very handy. Where is Richard Self out of?

Looks like a nice user. Really like the stag scales.

Richard is out of Nacogdoches, Tx. Super nice guy and makes some really nice knives. His damascus folders are out of this world. I have one that I will put pics up of tomorrow.

I talked to Richard Self the other night and he told me this was a relatively new design. He said he get's $450 for it! I asked if the price would be cheaper to use micarta instead of stag, and he said it'd still be $450. The knife is 6 inches long. I think the design is great, and I think one with white or antique paper micarta with black liners would be a great knife. But that price is too rich for me. Very nice knife though.

Beautiful knife. Sized a little too small for my hands. It seems that the blade is too wide for small game and the grip too short for deer sized game. I am not trying to be critical. I am sure it is perfect for some.

I would have no problem using that on any size game. I got some pretty big paws and I don't see the handle being a problem.

I have pretty big hands as well and with the thickness of the stag with the finger groove up front it feels really nice and I can get a great hold on it. Richards knives are a little more expensive than some, but his work and attention to detail is second to none. I don't mind spending a little more for great work and a great product!!

I have no problem spending for quality. What I see right now in the knife world is a lot of makers in the $170 to $270 range that just are not worth the price and or wait. I see a lot of generic blades in this price range. Honestly I would rather support a good new up and comer for a little less on up to this price range. I know I will catch hell for this on here but it is the truth like it or not. If I am looking for perfection or as close as possiable then I am not buying a $170 to $270 knife anyways and will go to a big name.

No problems there, quality work is quality work wether they are new and sell their stuff for $100 or someone like a Reese Bose for $2500 or others of the like. I have supported Richard from when he started and he is such a nice guy that sometimes I feel bad for not buying something from him. We have actually talked about some new designs for less $$$. Now I do have other knives from other makers Menefee, Ingram, Lightfoot, and others. I like them all and all of them have a different style and feel to them. I have been fortunate in my business to where I am able to indulge myself from time to time on custom things like certain knives, handguns and rifles. What I like about these things is that they are all made well and that I can enjoy them then hand them down to my kids for them to enjoy.
