I was wondering how many have abandoned old technology? Items commonly used such as film cameras? Personally, I have dumped my Telephone land line and saved a few bucks along the way. I wonder how long we will have the Post Office? Price increases just about every year. E mail is free as opposed to the high cost of postage and is basically instant as opposed to the Snail Mail. I am interested in opinions in either direction.

No more film camera, just an inexpensive Nikon Coolpix 775 for project recording and internet sales. Had a Kodak Easyshare 880 for awhile but the shutter was too slow for me.
Still have a land line as I am working on DSL for i-net connection but think it is soon to go away also in trade for a comcast high speed connection.
Still snail mail my bills and ship via Priority Mail.

I still use oil lamps, heat and cook with wood, and use a composting toilet but do not have a land line. I receive snail mail but probably do not send ten pieces out a year.

Yep, my most modern firearm is a JMB decedent in the form of a Sig P238.

My most recent firearm is a 1911 and it is pretty much just the way me Browning designed it. And it still works.

my 1911 and 1903 still work...Russ My 1879 Rolling Block still works, as do my '74 Sharps and my '96 Swedes. The Sharps is a modern built repro, but the rest are not. We still have a land line but through our cable company and tied to our ISP. Still snail-mail our bills to their final destination.

Scott, you are one of the very few where "obsolete" is just another 8 letter word and probably means nothing..LOL

We have pretty much moved away from film cameras with a few exceptions. Still have a land line, a fax and DSL. Cell phones are marginal here, at best. Pay our bills by snail mail.
Have an electric pump on the house well, but we are drilling another which will have a windmill and pumped storage. Will use the main well for everyday and keep the pumped storage for drip irrigation and emergencies.
Don't have any black rifles, just bolt actions, lever actions and single shots. Do have a Ruger 10-22 for the jackrabbits and garden pests and a Rem 1100 for sporting clays--otherwise shotguns are side by sides, over and unders and one Ithaca 37 pump. We cook and heat with propane, but not much, as our house is mostly passive solar.
Don't have any Sharps or rolling blocks, so I guess that we are pretty much 20th century mainstream.

just got a new cell after a year and a half without one....its a smart phone and i have fun with it, also supposed to meet military standards for drop and water proof ect tests so the wife thinks its unlikely ill break this one.....my sisters are happier cause ive chatted with them via texts than i have actually talked with them in months...
on the other end still using letter presses at work, one made in the late 1920's the other in 1950....do have oil lamps for power outages....

I wouldn't call a land line obselete, not in these parts anyway. After a hurricane our land lines almost always keep working while cell phones seem to die after the first 24 hours with no power.
After Katrina a friend of mine was stuck working in the Charity hospital in New Olreans and even with the basement flooded and no electricity they kept a land line working the entire time.
Otto is my co-pilot.
