I would probably try the vortex on sale. The ones I have looked at are pretty nice. My 2nd choice would be the redfield. Be advised that most 2-7 scopes are pretty short so make sure you have enough ring spacing. I also like the burris fullfields in that price range.

Without question the best scope available for $200 is the Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40 being sold by Cabelas for $199.99. Cabelas 4200 page

Bought a Redfield 2-7 as a gift recently and at about $160 delivered is is a good value. Installed it on the SOL's Marlin 336 and sightin and tracking were just fine. I may get a 3-9x for my bro's 270 for xmas...

The Bushnell 4200 elite is a bargin. The Burris FFII is also a decent scope for the dollars.

If you can afford a expensive rifle for your wife why not save a little more for a really nice riflescope? She can only hit what she can see. Of course My eyes are on the wrong side of 60 to use cheep optics. And that is what you get for $200. JMO

Check the classifieds, here.
Several VERY nice scopes have gone for well under $200 recently.

I like the Revolution 3-9 I put on my 444 single-shot. I also like their optional Accu-range reticle. It's a pretty fair scope for the price and I can see buying a few more for some knock-around guns.
Now with even more aplomb

My Vortex Viper 2-7 has been a good scope, very sharp and tracks well. Bought it from Doug for $175.
BTW, there's one for sale from Fotis in the classifieds for $150 and he's a good guy.

If you are set on a 2-7, the Vortex Vipers on clearance are about the best you can buy for the price. SWFA has them for $150, or they did. These are more comparable with the Leupold VX-3, and aren't even in the same class as any of the ones you listed. If for some reason you don't like the Vipers, the Burris Fullfield II is the one to go with after that imo. It's not as nice as the Viper, but it's quite a bit better than everything else on your list.
If you step up to a 3-9, the Bushnell Elite 4200 as mentioned is the way to go for the $200.
That being said, if you can find one for a great deal the Prostaff is a solid scope, but the glass isn't great and turrets are horrible. If you can find one for $80-100 imo it's a good deal. If you are going to pay over $100, there are much better options imo. I understand that they just redid this model, but I've not had the chance to test the new model yet, so I can't comment on it.
I've not had the Leupold Rifleman, but I've had the VX-I, and honestly the Prostaff was a better scope. The glass in the VX-I is also lacking compared to other scopes in that price range, and the friction adjustments are horrible and don't track accurately at all. I will also note that both of the VX-I's I've had have failed and quit holding zero after a little light use. Leupold is good about fixing them, but it still turned me off on the scope. I had another friend that bought one also, and his quit holding zero on his first trip out. The quality with these just doesn't seem to be there, and the glass is worse than several Simmons and Tasco's I've compared it with in low light situations. In the daytime, the glass is very close. That's not to say the Simmons and Tasco's have great glass, it's just to show you how the glass in the Leupold is. I'd in no way buy this scope again over all of the other options that you can get in the sub $200 price range that are much better.
I've never used a Redfield Revolution, but have read lots of reviews on them, and there is a great one titled Inexpensive Scope comparison over on Opticstalk.com that explains this one well. They seem to be decent, but are still lacking compared to other scopes in that price range.

Without question the best scope available for $200 is the Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40 being sold by Cabelas for $199.99.
I agree. Get one at that price.......... done. The next rifle can get a 2x7 when this sale is over.
