Yes, it's not a "B" and it is SS, but in a wood stock.
Most of ny Bs have 6X Leupolds on them. A few have a range of lower power variables and fixed power scopes.
There is almost nothing available in a SS/silver scope in a smaller frame that would not overwhelm this sporter weight #1. (Leupold's 3x9 compact the only one I know of that I would use.) I want low mounts and doubt that I'd need much over a 4x. Extension rings may be needed in a higher magnification unit.
The rear sight is "dead to me", anyway. (Great Tony Soprano line about his dear Mom who tried to have him whacked.)
I cannot see a thing with the blade sight Ruger provides and will never miss them. I do get NECGW peep sights on those #1s I expect to someday use with irons -- in .375 H&H and .45-70. I was also thinking of a VX II 2x7 with a 4a arpeture...
VANIMROD,
Burris and I parted ways years ago over their false claims about eye relief in their Signature line. Lots of guys are happy with them but ...
If anyone has used the new line of mildots and lkes them a lot, I would be open to reivestigating them but with a heavy dose of salt.

Yeah, sadly, I know exactly what you mean. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Been really toying with the idea of an NECG peep on my Ruger - instant 1 pound weight loss and boy do they handle great without a scope.
Has anybody used a fire sight with a peep? NECG makes those for #1's in different heights. The problem with these older eyes is that the factory supplied small front bead, or most any blade or bead sight, cannot be focused sharply.
I'm wondering if those really bright fire sights would allow one to at least get a decent enough sight picture for rough and ready work - like at least accurate enough to hit a 9" bullseye at 200 yards or so?
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!
