I went to a shop yesterday to pick up my rifle that was having some work done(I'll tell that story in the next post). While there I found a tang safety, 20 inch barrel, Ruger 77 in 7-08. She was in real good shape with just some nicks and small dings on the stock. She was priced at $499 with rings. They also had 4 CDL Rem. 700's,that looked new with tags. These were called demo rifles and priced at $549. All 4 were 3006. There were 75 or so other used rifles but these stood out to me.

Those are OK buys, but nothing to write home about. Well above typical gun show selling prices. Also, every gun mentioned is a push feed.

I want to go shopping where you do!(safariman)Prices around here are not that good. CDL's are hitting the $700 plus mark, pushfeed or not they are good rifles IMHE. Now the rugers are hitting $530 plus. So yeah not a great price but not bad. Pre-64's are a $1000 plus no matter the condition just FYI.Its a wreck if it is below the $800 mark at gunshows. The houston area is not that good for great prices.

JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

I knew they weren't steals but seemed pretty good for this area too. CDL's are around $700 here too and these look new for $150 less. The little Ruger was an Ultralite I think. It had about a 18-20 inch pencil thin barrel. Probably weighed 5lbs or so. It felt like a toy almost.

Notice that I said gun show SELLING prices, not what you see them marked at. It is likely that Houstons prices are a bit higher due to overall economy and average family incomes and net worth figures.

We still see user grade pre-64 model 70's for $600-700.00 and a used CDL will be hard pressed to bring much more than $500.00, if that. A used Ruger is about the same. New rifles? I don't have much of an idea about. I only deal in and watch prices on used stuff.

The prices I am accostimed to and go by is what I can sell a gun for in one or two gun shows. Not interested in taking the same inventory to the gun shows in niehboring cities show after show after..... Sell em, buy more, move those is my way so that could aslo have a bearing on my input here.

The last several years 77s here been running $450-$500 easy. Haven't seen that many 700s, but know at auctions they go for $500.00, and not necessarily CDLs.. MIGHT be able to pick up a pre-64, in 06 for $700 or so, but might not be "correct" (saw a guy with one at a gun show a few years back, and was taken back and left quickly, when it was pointed out his was a put together gun).

Gun show prices here kinda stupid, with people bringing stuff and just putting some off the wall price on it.. maybe that's why gun shows in the toilet here..

The CDLs are good buys. An M77 brings about $250.00 to $399.00 around here.

Push feeds are accurate.....CRFs aren't.
