I know, I know. I haven't been a fan of Federal brass.

Anyway, for those of you using it a 243, what are you finding to be "best" loads with H4350 and 95/100 grain bullets?

Thanks in advance for your information.

With my Ruger Frontier (really short barrel scout set up around 16") I've found 40.9 grs of H4350 to be the best....I start getting floaters at 41 grs...seems to be a touchy combo for me. I use 95 gr partitions and 100 gr solid base bullets, in both cases 40.9 was the sweet load in my Frontier.

40 gr of H4350 under a 100 gr Partition. Havent chronied that load, but it shoots great and was impressive on the only deer I took with that load.

Today I shot a test set of five, five shot groups with 39, 39.5, 40, 40.5 and 41 grains of H4350 and the 95 Bal Tip, and 40 grains was the best.

I've done just a little 243 handloading, and before last week it had only been for a friend's rifle. In WW brass with 95 grain bullets and H4350 it came into tune right at 41 grains.

I figured the FC brass would want a bit less powder, and it turned out that way.

I ended up trading a friend for a couple 100 case from Federal in 243, as he was going to neck it up to 308, but I had the equal amount of 308 brass and don't shoot one, so we swapped..

its been as good as Rem or Win 243 brass..

although I have used a lot of 100 grain bullets in the 243 for deer hunting, I am looking to convert to 85 to 95 grain bullets instead..
