Bill actually bought my Uncle Pat's barrel business back in 1984 or 85. He was a Marine Corp armorer and was plenty capable. His barrels never got the same acceptance from the match shooters as did Pat's. Can't say why but the guys won't use a barrel if it won't shoot I don't care who you are and what your company name is. After about 10 years he stopped using the name McMillan Rifle Barrels and thought he could do just as well using Wiseman. That might be because by that time he was trying to make a go of the rifle business as well. I understand now the bulk of his barrel business is in pressure test barrels. I don't see too many of his rifles around. He stopped using McMillan stocks some years ago and went exclusively to laminated wood stocks. He might have lost some credibility by claiming laminated wood was better than fiberglass.

I see Nosler and Empire Rifles using his barrels, both of them are selling in the $3,000 range (and up).
I have handled some of his rifles, but I have not had the opportunity to test fire them. They look and handle OK.

Years ago Bill advertized the ability to make a barrel for a Sauer 200 by cutting off the locking lug recessed/barrel breach on an original Sauer 200 barrel and welding on a different caliber and then chambering. I was pretty impressed by that. I could not find anyone else offering to do that work. There was an article in one of the glossy mags years ago by Rick Jamison on a 22/6mm Rem made by Wiseman for Jamison. It looked like a first rate rifle and shot extremely well according to Jamison. Wiseman used to offer a higher grade or quality of laminated stock. Don't know if he still sells it.
He is usually at the Reno SCI show with some nice wares.
