Who here uses it? My brother just got one & I need to help him start loading for it.
What powder would be best for this case?

Thank you. We will keep those in mind.

US 869 is another. Most here are using the H1000, as it is supposed to less temperature sensitive.

300 gr SMKs and Retumbo lit by Fed mags.
Liter bullets and faster powders are impressive at short range but past 500, this load takes over.

You must have a short barrel.

For 250's try VV N560. I've used it in two different .338LM's and it was easily the top choice, for speed and accuracy. The downside is the cost, but anything to do with a .338LM is spendy..
Luck....is the residue of design...

Never really had that good of luck with Retumbo, for the 300grSMK I have had good success with RL25 and H1000

Who here uses it? My brother just got one & I need to help him start loading for it.
What powder would be best for this case? I use 92 grains of H-1000 in Lapua brass lit by fed 215M primers with the 300 SMK for 2800 FPS. I got 3200FPS with the 250 SMK and 98 grains of H-1000. H-1000 may not be the fastest powder but I have found it to make very consistent loads
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

I'm using 92.0 Retumbo and the same primers and bullets you mentioned. Chrono tells me I'm getting 2665 fps, seems a little slow to me, what are you using and getting velocity wise? The accuracy of this load is so good I think I'm willing to live with the lack of velocity.

I no longer have my 338 Lapua Improved but will soon have one again as soon as the barrel arrives. I had good luck with Vihtavuori N165, but I dont remember the loads.

VV-N570 for 2885-grain & 300-grain bullets. Heavy weight Palma barrel profile & a suppressor. Stuff the Sendero stock with lead shot and steel bed. Bed the rifle with titanium putty and a steel putty skim coat. The suppressor takes all the bite out.
