Was in a local gunshop this morning and they had a new No.1 international chambered in .275 Rigby. Anyone know anything about this Ruger? Still had all the factory tags hanging on it and whatnot. Just an interesting offering that I had not heard or seen before. I forgot to look at the price.

Far as I know, that is AKA 7x57 mauser...one in the same just a different moniker. If I am mistaken, I apologize in advance and somebody should be along shortly to correct me.

Gap,

IIRC, Ruger made a limited run of those for the Dallas Safari Club about 4 or 5 years ago... And yes, the .275 Rigby is the English name for the 7x57. John Rigby & Co. labeled their rifles that instead of the Tuetonic nomenclature...

GH & all,
The .275 Rigby caliber stamped No.1 RSI was made for the Dallas Arms Collectors Association, not the DSC. There were 100 made.

I have seen a couple of these on the used racks locally. Serial number is somewhat unique. Just a 7mm Mauser. Use as is or rebarrel/forearm and have what you want.

Both sold finally for around $500 cash as is.

I would give 500 for a Number 1 RSI in 7x57 .

Thanks for the info, I am not sure what it was marked but it was at one of the upper end gun stores here in Dallas, I know one thing it was more than $500. I had not seen one marked like that before.
Would it be worth more than a one marked 7X57?

Oops! My mistake... blush

Thanks, ENU, for clearing that up... I figured that you'd know...

I'd sure like to know where they are selling for $500.... I just might have to forsake my self-imposed boycott of the RSI and buy one for that... smile

IMHO I would say to a collector, possibly yes. As Lee said, 1 0f 100. But then again, some of the guns made for, you name it, The "Illinois State Highway Patrol", seems like they lag behind same unmarked rifle.

Was there any other features that differed from the average RSI?

No matter, I would be surprised if any 7x57 RSI No.1 is not worth 8 bills.

Mitch
