Did a little searching and couldn't find what I was looking for.
Wanting to replace the factory trigger to something more suitable for hunting.
Should I just go RRA NM or is there a better option?
Thanks in advance.

IMO, there's not a better option for the price of a RRA NM....

I can't argue with the Rock River NM,I have one and it is the nicest AR trigger I own (except for the AR Gold) but I just bought a Gisselle Combat I'm likin' a lot, for a working/defensive carbine, I'd opt for the latter.

Might consider sending your factory trigger to Bill Springfield, he seems pretty reasonable.

I would not have any work done to a factory trigger and yes I've heard of Bill Springfields work. Once you remove the surface hardening, it's a matter of time or trigger pulls before it goes south.
I use the RR NM triggers and replace the disconnector brad with a pin. Never had an issue with them.
I'd like to try a Gisselle one day.

I have a few Rock Rivers in personal guns and have installed dozens in other individual's rifles. Not one has gone bad and all have been uniformly good, reliable triggers.

+1 on the Rock River. For the money, it's the best. You'd have to spend significantly more to get something marginally better.

I dropped a RRA NM trigger in my AR and noticed a big change in groups immediately. If you are hunting in cold weather, I'd practice a lot with gloves on before going out though. Not because the trigger pull is light but if, like me, you hadn't shot a match type trigger with gloves on it will take a little practice. No big deal, just familiarization is all.

Can't argue with that statement, took the words out of my mouth RE modifying a stock trigger... but some folks love cheap and are just made to have to learn the hard way even though I have....and am willing to save you money... and I even paid much more TWICE than what bill charges.....

Thanks for all the responses. I was leaning RR NM to begin with and having read this I don't see any reason to change. Think I'll order one. Thanks again

I've been very pleased with messing with the stock factory one. I got it to about 3.5lbs with no creep without touching the sear surfaces. Cost me about 50 cents. "for the money" I don't think there is a better trigger out there. http://www.junkyardgenius.com/firearms/ar-15/ar08.htmlhttp://www.sargenthome.com/15_Minute_AR_Trigger_Job.htmas an added bonus, if you try with your trigger and screw up, well, you were going to replace the trigger anyway. You have nothing to lose.

I am running the $59 modification to my LR-308 trigger from Bill Springfield @ triggerwork.net. Trigger took about 2 weeks to get back and has a very consistent 3 pound pull....at a fraction of the other prices I see here.

And the above trigger for a cheap 59 bucks will fail at some point. Beware of trigger jobs on the AR... I"ve been shooting versions of them since the early 80s, and seriously, IE to the tune of 20K rounds a year from 89 through 2004.. the WORST thing you can do is the above.

have you ever seen a "doctored trigger" go off when the gun butt hit the ground?

There's plenty of reports of bad trigger jobs from Bill and others but folks don't want to spend money they just want cheap and most will never pull that trigger enough to know they wasted their money.

Never saw a gun butt hit the ground...
As to trigger jobs.... what I can't fathom, is that for 60 bucks you'd ship yours off, pay shipping, pay shipping back etc... and if you looked hard enough and were patient, for 100-120 bucks you could find a better than factory trigger on sale thats actually SAFE....
As I've said, those that have trigger jobs haven't put many rounds down range. I had 2 done by a TOP line AR guy.. paid way more, the eventually both failed.

Another vote for the RRA NM trigger. It's a great trigger for the money.
I recently needed a lower parts kit and found a guy on GunBroker that sells the RRA MN lower parts kit w/trigger for a $109. I thought that was a pretty good deal.
