I'd bet... that if the Jard Hammer was looked at and then lightened, and went back to a standard spring on the hammer, or even standard plus a bend... it would speed up considerably, but then the pull might suck too possibly...

I bought a Jard 1 1/2 lb trigger a few years ago. It was the worst AR trigger I've ever owned. The disconnect needed some major filing before it would even function. It never broke at the advertised pull weight and felt as gritty as a bad factory trigger. I threw mine away!

I have no idea who makes the best single stage, I haven't tried them all. I went from the Jard to a Timney which I like a lot. It's consistent and seems to be holding up well. If I ever have any trouble with it I know Timney will be there to take care of me. It's not the lightest pull but to me it has a great feel and I can shoot well with it.

Your choices are limited if you're stuck on having a single stage.

Years ago when I shot in CMP I had a single stage NM trigger that broke at 4 1/2 lbs.on my AR Service Rifle. It was so crisp with no over travel.Regretfully the gentleman that made them has passed on.At the last Varmint Hunters Jamboree I attended a fella had a single Stage trigger he had made himself that broke at 1 Lb.It was fantastic.I miss placed his card.
I have heard you can adjust a Jewell 2 stage to almost no first stage and down to a pound second stage.Any body try a Jewell trigger on their AR????

Yes, I've had Jewells. The first prototype before they were out to the public.. very nice. First production ones. Nice.

Then I suggested them to another and a buddy said, they are not worth a flip, teh pull weight changes from shot to shot.... I says no....

And then I buy a new one... and yep.. shot to shot the weight changed.

Never seen or pulled a 1 pound crisp perfect bolt gun type trigger in an AR with a single stage trigger. Had a lot of folks proud of theirs though and when I felt them, they were far from good but miles ahead of factory....

I have a couple of Timneys. Very good single stage. Haven't had a problem one. They are both in the 3lb range which is fine with me.

I've shot several of Bill Springfield's triggers and have been impressed with all of them. I can't vouch for lock time or poundage but I'm sure that its the least creep you can get for the money.
