To have these after the way it has gone down. I planted peas the middle of June and then they moved my knee replacement from August to June 24. I did not get to work them at all and they grew up, bad. Then we have had 17 days straight over 100 deg F. with one at 114f and today was 109f. I picked these this morning and shelled them during the hot part of the day. I hope there will be more. miles

Pardon my ignorance, the only peas we've ever grown were 'green' peas.

Are those in the pics dried on the vine?

The last pic looks like black-eyed peas. If they are, that bag is a ten years supply for us. We only eat them on New Years Day for good luck through out the year. Good job Miles.

Pink eye purple hull peas. The top ones are Crowder peas and No they are not dry but what we call in the roasting ear stage. That means that they are mature but not dry. Those are gallon zip lock bags. miles

Those bags are ready for the freezer, according to my wife. That is the way we have done them for years but I am going to vacuum seal these. She put a wad of paper towels in the top and got what air out that she could. They are not washed or anything, just shelled. We wash them when we use them, that way there is no moisture to cause them to stick together and you can take out the amount you want. A long time ago she would put them in a pillow case but they are better in the bags with the air out. miles

Miles,
great pictures. I grew up just down the street from a big farm with a huge garden. I am thinking of the afternoons the ladies spent putting up the harvest for the winter ahead. Those Peas look great. Enjoy.
