Seems like 10 years ago, I could see the pulp fibers in my bullet holes, now I need a spotting scope if its under .35 cal.

Anyone tried these vision enhancement products you see in mags. and on OLN?

The best is a vision enhancement product based primarily on silicon and aluminum. There are many vendors and a wide variety of products to choose from.

What vision enhancement products are you referring to? I'm not familiar with any of them. How do they work?
I'm well into the geriatric age group, and my eyes give me fits.
TIA,
Don

I wear glasses, and at 46, I am not one to grab at any straw. If you read "Rifle Magazine" or "Guns and Ammo", etc., you have seen the ads.

Tracks,

Is that a Warthog( I could be wrong) you are standing on top of? Great aircraft, but don't you have to be so tall to fly one? Maybe I missed something, but in your Icon, you look about 5'2".

It is an A-10, but the picture is not me. It is my Grandson, currently a crew chief for that aircraft,(a-10s, not that particular plane) serving in Afghanstan.
One hell of a great kid, gets one award after another, loves the Air force, will make it a career. He loks about 15, but is a tough little SOB, been shooting Magnums since he was 12.
When he gets back here he will find that he is the owner of a real nice custom rifle.

Don -

I was facetiously referring to scopes. Started wearing glasses before I was a teen, over 40 years ago, and have problems with iron sights for some years. As a result I hunt almost exclusively with scopes. No vision supplement will ever be near as effective as glass.

I have found Williams FireSights to be a tremendous improvement over standard iron sights and have them on 4 rifles. Three of those rifles sport scopes in Warne Quick Detach rings and bases and I do occasionally use the FireSights for fun. A couple rifles and all but one handgun are iron only.

Cant vouch for any vision supplements one way or another but am a big believer in taking vitamins and other supplements in general. My knees gave me fits almost daily since I was a teen. A couple years ago my wife put me on a daily vitamin with additional calcium and glucosamine chondroitin. Now its a rare day when my knees bother me. Do the vision supplements help? Maybe, probably some. Will they hurt? Probably not.

I've tried vitamin and mineral supplements that were supposedly designed to contain the nutrition your eyes need. Old eyes don't magically get young and I have no way of telling if they help slow down deterioration. At the very worst, the only thing hurt is my wallet. Ward

30Gibbs,

Probably not.

I read the ads, and they seem to be worded to keep the company from being whacked by the feds. The way this thing works, these guys can sell supplements until their claims get too outrageous and the feds haul them in. They make a pile of money, and quit running the ads when the feds tell them to desist. Or perhaps change the wording, and keep doing it.

I'm convinced Vit C works for sore muscles and to alleviate (not cure) the cold. Take Selenimn cuz the doc says it helps the prostate. (Hey- anythnig to keep the old member up!) One-a-day just for the hell of it. Ditto iron and an asperin. Two asperin every 4 hours since I blew my knee out packing 100 lb caribou load off a mountinside a couple weeks ago - I'll be paying for 6 months for that one!
