I am currently in Kruger National Park traveling with 2 Ozzies and came across this old boy in the morning. It was really hard not putting on a stalk! Saw an awesome tusker in the late afternoon also.

I had one or two more words to say than that about this fella that should not be repeated on this forum! Tomorrow I will try and post the picture of the tusker. It's now 10:37 PM and I have to leave at 6AM so I'm off to bed with a hyena calling in the back ground and a hippo grunting in the foreground! Night all. Pieter

Pieter,
Please pardon my ignorance, but are there bulls out there like this one that can be hunted, or are trophies like this relegated to the parks?
Thanks,
Ed

Ed, trophies like this are available in SA but at a premium price. The only part where we can beat other countries is on the daily rates but alas, the trophy price makes me sad.
Pieter PS I'm off to bed now and will follow up again tomorrow our time

Mike,
YES! And I'll take the rifle, too!
Tell me more.

Pieter,
What a brute! I've seen a few photo's and heard from a handful of South African PH's that Kruger has some whoppers.
Mike,
Very nice indeed! Adding to chorus to hear more about your hunt.

APDDSN0864 (Ken) You mean like this one from Mozambique. Looks like a pretty good shot for a lefty. Nice double and great bull.

I've never truly understood nor appreciated the allure of hunting and shooting one of them black "cattle"..... but perhaps my perspective will change next summer as I'll have an opportunity to hunt one in Zim.

Sharpsguy, The bullet from a 45-110 sharp would just bounce off a cape buffalo. Do not you know that a buffalo can tell the difference between a bullet fired from the Sharps versus one fired from a Nitro express......
