Has anyone had any corrosive issues shooting 777 in the Encore? Specifically back into the frame action area? Areas where a complete take down of frame/action would have to take place? I've shot it for the last three years and always clean things really well, but I haven't stripped the action completely down. My barrel and action look great, just curious if it would be worth my time to do a complete tear down... Thanks

The action on an Encore doesn't have many places that powder residue can get into and hide. Doesn't ever seem to get into the trigger assembly. I've never had a problem with mine.

As with any M-L, any crack or crevice where smoke & residue can flow & then left uncleaned - can lead to corrosion. I bought a used Knight a while back, on a whim. The guy said it 'had been cleaned well after use'. That may of been the case, but he never took the bolt apart. Inside the bolt housing it was rather corroded. I didn't expect much for the price & was able to get it back on track.
You could also switch over to Blackhorn 209, but I'd still keep things clean.

I had the same thing happen with a Firehawk, it has a plunger-type action that I would assume is similar to the Knight. Let a friend borrow it and he cleaned it, but didn't take the plunger and spring apart to clean so they were a mess.
Never had that happen with the Encore though, totally different type of action. I've shot it many times and not taken the action apart to clean, and when I do take it apart on occasion, there's no corrosion. I do take out and clean the ejector and around the spring on the bottom of the breech though, and put a light coat of oil on there.

Yeah I had an Encore and you need to take the extractor out and use a Q-tip and swab out the hole that the extractor slides into , mine was full of blowback residue each time I shot it. That is on the barrel though not the frame.

I had the same problem when I was using Pyrodex. That crap got EVERYWHERE. Was especially hard to get out of corners and tight spots in the frame and extractor areas. I tried BH209 and will never try/use anything else again unless they take it off the market. I've found it to do exactly what they advertise out of my Encore. NO corrosion problems and with 300grain Harvester PT Golds on top of 100grains of BH..it shoots under an inch @ 100yards with 2-7 Burris, 4-shot group anytime I'M up for it...hope this helps

When I used T7 in the Encore, residue seemed to get everywhere, including back through the firing pin hole. The .25acp BP conversion from PR Bullet solved the problem. Those little cases completely sealed the gases from getting anywhere past the BP.
