TSX, A-Frame, North Fork, or TBBC.

The PH I'll be hunting with next year stated he was fond of solids for giraffe.

Every one of the bullets mentioned will do quite well but I'll second the vote for the 270gr TSX.

I am a recent convert of the 270 TSX. I love this bullet in the 375.
With that said I am still not sure I am ready to try it on a giraffe or maybe buffalo. On my one and only giraffe I used the 416 Rem with 400 SAF. They did not exit. I know some PH's will advise head shots with the 375 so I would bring along some solids in case. If it was me I would probably go with 300 SAF as I have used them well on buffalo.
I have recovered 270 TSX bullets so they are stoppable as any bullet is. So far I have shot about 12 head of game with the 270 TSX out to 450 yards and it performed incredible. The largest game being elk, gemsbok, and lion. Even at 450 yards on springbuck it showed signs of expansion on exit. I just haven't done enough to know what it will do in giraffe. The way you shoot these guys is so different than anything else in shot placement.
They make great mounts though.

Well, having just got back from Zimbabwe, and seeing 4 big game animals taken, with 3 one shot kills, I'm a huge fan of the Hornady 300 gr. DGX and DGS 375 H&H mag bullets. The one shot kills were on 2 cow cape buff, and a tuskless ele.

I shot my giraffe bull with a 250TSX out of a 338RUM. I had S&H solids for follow up shots if needed.

That gets my vote.

The 270 TSX with 75gr or RL 15 and a Large Rifle Primer has been my recipe for success with this for a long time now. It's an amazing match to this cartridge and has way better performance then the "math" would show you on paper. You don't need to bother with that whole "soft solid magazine stacking theory". The TSX is an expanding solid

It's flatter shooting then a 180gr from a 30/06 and penetrates so amazing that it will take something with real substance to stop it. These open large and easy on smaller game then the 300gr bullets do.

The 270 TSX is the new standard by which all other bullets are measured against for the 375.

A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

I would think if you would trust it on a lion, a giraffe would be a slam dunk.....

My daughter is just back from Kenya where she was teaching. I have to see if she will let me post a couple of her photos. She has a maned lion photo from about 15 yds. She has a cape buff photo from 20 yds. She said the Masai warrior that was guiding her seemed to be concerned they were so close. I would think so. smile I would agree with the 270 tsx being my bullet of choice, but I also shoot the 300 Hornady.

Another vote for that projectile and propellant, though my rifle takes a smidgen less powder. The first four animals I shot with it (hartebeest, springbok, gemsbok, blesbok) hit the ground so hard that my PH thought I'd missed the springbok entirely (it dropped behind a bush) and the other three threw up clouds of dust.

I used 270 and 300 grain TSXs in the .375 for quite awhile, 4 safaris worth. I've since switched to 270 grain A-frames and am happier with them. They seem to hit noticeably harder than the TSXs. I've taken 10 buffalo with the .375/ A-Frame combo so far, 3 in Argentina and 7 in Australia. Some other smaller stuff as well.

My giraffe was downed with a 300 grain Barnes solid through the base of the neck, but that was just the way it turned out.

Another vote for the 270 grain TSX but I also like the 300 grain North Fork Cup Point Solid.
