I have one that looks almost like that in the safe downstairs. it's an '06 model though. My neighbors Dad had it when he passed away and he asked if I wanted oto buy it. I did and promptly put it in the safe. Never fired it and have had it over 5 years.
Funny thing about those "elitist" rifles is that I have a few nice rifles but my "go to" rifle has always been my first. It is a Model 4 in .270. Basically an upgraded 7400 semi-auto. It has high gloss finish and monte-carlo stock. I have killed over 20 deer with it and it has never failed to cycle. At the range, however, it jams or fails to cycle about 1 out of every 3 shots. Wierd indeed.
When I hit a slump of not seeing many deer, I always pull her out of the safe. Winchester Silvertips in 130gr with bent up tips from loading from the clip... (not that I am superstitious though)
This thread is going to cause me to pull the ol' pump gun out of retirement and blow the dust out of it! Just what I needed, another project.
