This is the rifle I have been putting together for the last two weeks. I got a rem 700 .243 and pulled the barrel as soon as I got it home. Trued the action and lapped the lugs, then adjusted the trigger to 3lbs. I then found a new take-off mountain rifle barrel here on the Fire and put it on the receiver.

I put it in a take-off Ti stock, bedded, freefloated, and installed a new Decelerator. Plain black, doesnt do anything for me so I hit it with white webbing. I am really pleased with the looks!

Topped it off with a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40 with some B-Square aluminum rings and weighed it in at 6lb 11oz. I can save a bit more with a leupy ultralight and Talleys, but just can't swing it right at the moment. I am sending the bolt off next week for helical fluteing.

But before that, I am taking it out to the range tomorrow to see how it does. Just shooting some factory stuff and changing to handloads when the bolt gets back. RL15 and 120gr TTSX's to start. Should be a sweet rig for whitetails!

I would definitely go with a set of Talley lightweight base/ring combos, but other than that the gun looks perfect. Almost like a franken-titanium, and it should shoot very well. Its about a pound heavier than my 700 Ti, but should still be a joy to carry in the woods. Any ideas on what bullet you will use?

Some Talleys in low or extra low would fit the bill. For fast sight picture acquisition, I'm betting the scope needs to be a fair bit lower. It looks to be a very nice set up, deer should fear!
