After decades of using the Partition, I started trying the Accubond a couple of years ago and have been quite pleased at the range.
In the field I've only taken one game animal with the Accubond, a black bear, and the bullet performed perfectly. Just as the Partitions have for a long time.

I used nothing but Partitions for years, but decided to try out the AB's in the 2006 season. I was using the 160 gr AB in my 7mm SAUM @ 2900 fps. They shot incredibly well, but the performance on the shoulder of a large mule deer was nothing like I had experienced with Partitions. In short they blew the shoulder into shredded venison. I cant remember how many bucks I've shot in the shoulder with Partitions, they simply died. The partitions were so consistent they were boring I still wanted a high BC tipped bullet so I tried out the Scirocco II's. I've been very impressed with it at the range and on animals. FWIW I've been experimenting with the 200 grain AB in my 300 RUM and hope to have better results.

Boy, that's sure not what I've seen- though I haven't killed anything with that particular Accubond.

I shot a young whitetail bucks with with the 7mm/160 accubonds at 3000 fps at like twenty yards.
The tip exploded on impact, leaving a softball sized entrance hole, but the base still penetrated in to the off shoulder. That was reassuring that they can work at short range, even though that's not at all what that round is designed for.
Since then I've killed a good sized bear at 20-30 yards (in the neck) and a young bull elk at 40-50 yards. Both times the bullet worked wonderfully. Especially on the bull, going in behind the shoulder quartering away and leaving a good sized exit in front of the off shoulder.

All said I think the combo of my rifle and that bullet have killed two elk, three bears, two mule deer, an antelope, and six whitetail, at ranges from 20-350 yards. I really can't think of one of them where I wasn't happy with the performance.

I cant remember how many bucks I've shot in the shoulder with Partitions, they simply died. The partitions were so consistent they were boring Partition shooters drool myopically as they gaze at yet another carcass...... AB shooters are greeted to a chorus of "Stars and Stripes Forever" followed by Black Eyed Peas and "Boom Boom Pow".... Rock on!

Bob, I have to admit your Black Eyed Peas reference gives me hope for the "older generation". Never let it be said you are stuck in the past. Next thing we know you will singing the virtues of the VLD with the zeal of the newly converted. Shall I hold my breath??

I've got 168 Bergs along with 7828 and R25 ready to rock in my #1B/Mashburn. If it cools off a bit we may give it a go tonight at the range that is if it kools off...grin
