I had a Colt Buntline, .22 back in the early 60's and of course I got rid of it. Still kicking myself in the butt over that one.

The dillinger cost me about $170 now the ruger was $450 I sold my gold necklace and doubled my money and turned in my spare change. grin

Like Grizzly Bill I also had a Colt Buntline back in the 60"s.Absolutely BEAUTIFUL pistol.Nickle plated with both .22 and .22WMR cylinders.A bitch to carry in the woods in a holster.Somewhere along the way I saw something I wanted more and swapped it.I'm sure it would be worth a lot more today than I had in it.Ahhhh the 20-20 hindsight.

I was messing a bit with the 760 last night. I really like it. I wish I could see irons worth a dang I'd leave it as is. I was trying to put some rings and bases on in, but the 760's have different hole placement than the 7600 does. I forgot that. I couldn't get my gunbroker order to go through on the computer either, so I'll have to stop at a shop somewhere and see what they have.

lol, well we talked of using the little mans play pool to crush them, instead we opted to do them a gallon at a time in two big pots. potato mashers kinda worked, we switched over to stainless steel water bottles, that worked slick.then put everything into a 6.5 gal bucket, added the yeast, a few lbs of sugar til the specific gravity was at about 1.1 and covered with an old T shirt. need to stir every 12 hours for 10 days while the yeast does its thing. then we rack it into 5 gallon glass carboys with the airlocks on top. then let it sit for a year pretty simple really. now the chore is going to be rounding up a hundred or two wine bottles. because when the plums get ripe here before too long, I'm gonna make 10 gallons of that. I figure I'll end up giving half of it away so it doesn't hurt to make a bunch

That sounds like fun Ryan, we plan on doing a batch or 2 of choke cherry wine this year. I have 11 gallons of cleaned choke cherries frozen in gallon bags. Pam is going to process a couple gallons of choke cherries tonight for jelly actually.

Well, I guess it's getting late so maybe she won't get to them today but I can see them in a big pot in the kitchen from my computer chair. I just love the smell of that choke cherry juice once you get into the process.

But 13 gallons for us this year, wow that's a record for us and they are still hanging on the trees in the forest too. We went to the cabin today to cut some poles for building a wood shed at home and I noticed the choke cherries were still hanging in there, not falling off quite yet.

Gophergunner, me and Jack hit the woods north of Duluth today to do a litte recon mission on the hunting area.

It was beautiful weather, not too hot, not too cold. There was just enough color to get the blood pumping. We didn't get the scouting done that we wanted to because it was a bit too thick. We got the trail in, cut open. Showed Jeff a few spots he can put up a stand or two and found one we need to rebuild. There was quite good sign in the woods and we even flushed 4 grouse.

We saw a few choke cherry trees ready for the picking but I flushed a grouse from under one of them, so I figure he needs it more than I do.

I've never had choke cherry wine, but it sounds like I'll get a headache from it.

Any signs of deer'ish life at camp? We found quite a bit today by Island Lake. Trails and even a few scrapes from last year. Bugs weren't too bad, still biting but tolerable.

SIL was up at his camp Saturday putting up new stands. Their group had 3 ladder stands stolen this spring.

He said the bugs were pretty bad yet.

Wife took the oldest boy to the ER last night for a gash on the back of his heel, on the way she "startled" him when they passed a buck.

She laughed when he got all excited and started pointing out shot angles and how cool it would be to get one that is still in velvet.

Took all three to the range yesterday, shot the airrifle, .22's and the oldest boys new 20 gauge. Nothing like the youngest boy wanting to shoot the 20 gauge first to overcomes the oldests fears of the boom stick. Next thing I know Mr. Shy and Bashful can't tolerate his younger brother shooting his shotgun and I am two boxes of shotgun shells less than when I started.

Airrifle was a big hit even single shot like it is. There is already a safari being planned to go after big bushy butted grays if we can find anywhere up here out of the city limits. All in all a fairly destructive weekend was had by all.
